Mid year Report to Members and Friends

It is the Mid-year 2020 already and time to update all on what has been an unusual first half year activity.
It was December when the vessel was actively sailing and exploring the Islands from Magnetic to Palm to the Brookes and Dunk Islands.
Tested and tried, a sail was torn but otherwise all systems were sea trialled successfully.
A bond was forged with Girringun elders from Palm and Cardwell during this time.
January was time to fix things and Sailmaker and Photographer Lex Prior was able to restore the stitching on the belly of the foresail.
February was hot and Coral and Clams in the fringing reefs of Nelly and Geoffrey Bay showed onset of bleaching event 2020.
March was the hottest periodically and the threat of a virus spread among us.
A duckling joined the crew in isolation
and provided a source of hope in the time of COVID for us, in social isolation down below sea level.
April suggested Virus curve was controlled by the ritual cleaning of hands and keeping distances of metres from one another, the crew felt the moat around the boat was a satisfactory strategy.
Plans to ascend the masts were prepared if windy conditions eased but the windy weather did cool everything including the water and corals and clams survived another bleaching event.
May maintenance and the Masts and spars got 3 coats of Sikkens filter 7.
June is really prepping for a haulout in July.

Thanks for your international interest and support through donations and membership.
